Manner Original Neapolitaner
The Manner Original Neapolitaner Wafers are also known as "Manner Schnitten".
In 1898 Josef Manner created a new type of wafer - the Hazelnut Cream
Filled Wafer known as "Neapolitaner Schnitte Nro.239" - or the "Jubilee
Wafer", in honour of Emperor Franz Josef's Golden Jubilee.
The wafer was called "Neapolitaner" because in those days hazelnuts came from the area around Naples.
In 1907 the pink packet with the picture of the St. Stephan's Cathedral of ten wafers was sold on the market the first time.
